How 'bout a little love for Toot right about now. I swear I saw her on Barack's right shoulder during his acceptance speech. This diary is for anyone who has lost a loved one and for the magnitude and sadness of one long day.
One of my favorite comments I've heard about Madelyn Payne Dunham's passing is that she just wanted a better view. In her condition, she wouldn't have been able to travel all the way to Chicago to see her grandson accept the presidential nomination, but this way she had a greater view than all of us - sitting atop Barack's right shoulder, proud as ever.
I cannot begin to imagine what Barack must be going through, but for Toot, I cannot imagine a better way to go.
