Like all of you and millions of others across the country I received an email from Barack Obama thanking all of us for our hard work in this victory. Having received so many of these over the past year it would be easy to discount it as just words. Just one more email blast thanking all the little people. However once Barack Obama took the stage you knew it was much more than words.
The millions of people who powered his campaign were literally given equal footing and acknowledgement with regard to our victory. As the television would pan the audience it found Oprah standing among the thousands of Obama supporters. Oprah was a loyal Obama supporter from the beginning with unmatched resources and clout yet she was not up on stage in some special VIP section. She was among the crowd peering through an opening of two other supporters that got there ahead of her. The same could be said for Jesse Jackson and probably hundreds of other political bigwigs.
Could there be any better indication that when Obama says that this happened because of all of us, he really means it?
