Supporters of gay marriage had a heavy setback yesterday. After I'm over the initial shock I've vowed "NEVER AGAIN!"
It's taken me a while to recover from yesterday night, but since I'm over the initial moping I've decided I'm not taking this lying down. Yes, there is a chance this is getting defeated in the courts - but I don't want to rely on that chance.
One of the major problems of "No on 8" was the fact that the campaign was not exactly well-organized. It was a top-down effort, with very little grass roots involvement(except as callers and cash machines)
According to fish's diary made it clear to me. There will be some (very few!) community gatherings tonight, and it's buried in some sub-page of no-on 8. There seemed to be virtually no effort to get this publicized.
Well, I'm not standing for this any more. I don't have the first clue where to begin, but I will dedicate all of my spare time to making sure this is repealed at the next opportunity and will never happen again.
No, I'm not a "community organizer" yet - "No on 8" was the first time I was ever involved in a campaign - but I guess I just sort-of became one. We (the dKos) community have managed to crash the gates in DC - let's do it again for gay marriage!
(And of course, any pointer/help are appreciated. As I said, I've never done anything like this before)
YES WE CAN!
