November is here. Glorious October has turned to dreary dark days. The economy continues to be dismal and we're still faced with this ruinous war. We have to get out and get out now.
Now that we've got all the cards- House, Senate and White, we've got to quit Iraq. Whatever the reasons the Dems come up with to move slowly- I don't want to hear it. It's enough already. We've got this tiny window of opportunity- the country and media is high on O's win. Time to move with that momentun and announce an immediate troop reduction. The troops need to be brought home now. They deserve to get out now before more of them lose parts of their body for the world's stupidest continuing conflict.
This war has lasted longer than World War II. And the cost. The cost- easily over three trillion dollars with another trillion dollars added to the national debt. And where did we get that money when we didn't have it. Oh we took out another credit card from Mastercard and like with my credit card we're being socked with 18% interest and penalties and fines. We could never afford this war and it is dragging to the US economy down to a deep and dangerous recession. The cost of the war has eaten into every program, every budget. States and cities are facing huge deficits because there's no money from the Feds. All sorts of important programs have to go begging because the money's not there. Here in Wisconsin we finally got the Assembly back and can get some things passed without all those nutsy Republicans blockading us, but we're up against a $3 billion shortfall.
We cannot fix the economy, we cannot fix global warming, we cannot fix health care without first taking on the elephant in the room. The war has slipped from everyone's awareness. But it's still there. I don't want to be sitting here a year from now, the glow of O's win faded, still seeing the continuing carnage in Iraq and no end in sight.
