Every once in a while, a Fox News personality slips up and says something that reveals the whole Fair & Balanced thing is a joke, even to them. Media Matters used to like to call this the "Fox Freudian Slip".
In his "Talking Points Memo" segment last night, Bill O'Reilly had such a moment. Speaking about the election of Obama and what it all means going forward, O'Reilly stated
As for "The Factor," we will now ramp up our watchdog role........
Our focus now is to report exactly what President-elect Obama is doing and what it means to you. Let's be honest. The guy is still a mystery, so our oversight will be intense.
So in other words, now that a Democrat has been elected President, O'Reilly and his crew can "really" start to investigate what's going on in the White House again, not that such watchdogging was necessary the past 8 years or anything (Who was looking out for us then Bill?). It will be interesting to contrast what the media digs up on Obama, compared to what they ignored with Bush.
P.S.... There's a bit more
P.S. O'Reilly added this bit of nonsense at the end:
On the pinhead front, it looks like Senator Norm Coleman has defeated Al Franken for the Senate in Minnesota. There will be a recount. Official word won't come until December. How any American can vote for a bad guy like Franken is inconceivable. Pinhead doesn't even begin to cover it.
NO mention of Ted Stevens and the votes he received. Nope Al Franken is the worst guy O'Reilly can think of. Franken's crime of course is that he humiliated O'Reilly on C-Span a few years back, which to O'Reilly automatically puts you on the same level as Pol Pot.
