*reposted from late last night...
I'll start off by saying that I have followed this election season rabidly from before the primaries to now primarily here at good ol' DailyKos. It's been one hell of a ride and I look forward to fighting for Progressive causes with you guys long into the future. I don't write much here because I'm mostly here to listen (read) and when I do contribute it's mostly with images as I'm much better at visuals than words (like that run-on sentence?).
Due to my profession I am often fortunate enough to witness some pretty interesting stuff from backstage or behind the curtain or the sidelines. Tuesday November 4th I had the distinct honor of working on President-Elect Obama's election night celebration.
Follow me over the fold for a few images from the event....
So, as I stated above I had the honor and pleasure of being at the Grant Park event on election night. My colleagues and I were there to set up the display system on the stage, in the park and in the press and vip tents. If you watched the event on television you saw our video screen off stage left throughout the program.
As I usually do on events of such import I carried along my trusty Leica to grab a few memories. We work so hard and fast at these events I usually need my photographs to get a good look at what actually happened. I have been as involved as I possibly could have been in the campaign with volunteering donating and blog-viating so I was especially psyched to be asked to work on this gig. Below are a few shots I thought you guys would enjoy....
---Grant Park right before the gates open...
---A few cameras and their operators prepare for the event...
---Correspondent ready for live spot...
---Beautiful crowd awaits...
---Black-White and everything in between, a far cry from Phoenix...
---MSNBC calls it for Obama!
---And the crowd keeps cheering...
---The Trifecta-Axelrod/Plouffe/Gibbs. Simply the best...
---Our future Chief White House Advisor...
---Unsung heroes-Obama's advance staff breath a sigh of relief...
---And finally, after 21 months, the speech we've all been waiting for...
---And the crowd goes wild...
Well, hope you enjoyed these as much as I enjoy sharing them. Rec' it up if you like it!
Cheers.....B
