The election of Barack Obama as our 44th President has allowed us to decompress from the anxiety of election mode, but it is certainly not the end of our work. There are many things that Obama's election represent, I'll let others who are much smarter and wiser than I discuss those. However, I will say this is not the time to sit back.
Meteor Blades had a recommended diary last night that discusses the reactions to early criticism of Barack's actions. Let me just express my support of his position. Let us not fall into the GOP mold of not holding our leaders accountable from the start. Remember, critiquing and questioning our leaders is one of the highest forms of patriotism. We should not become a progressive version of the right's kool-aid drinkers.
Now is the time to speak even louder than we have in the past, the pressure to delay or over compromise on issues of importance to us. We may not have the large quantities of monies that the Insurance industry has to pay lobbyist but if we have too we know we can raise it. I don't propose hiring lobbyist ourselves but we sure as hell can raise enough to say run a full page ad in the Washington Post and or the NYTimes and even the WSJ to send our leaders a very open message. NYCeve's work, as well as others is just beginning.
If you haven't read Paul Krugman's column I suggest you do so. Kula2316's Morning Update has covered the detail's so I'll not cover them again, go read his diary if you haven't, by now it should be part of your regular morning reading.
A CALL TO ACTION ON BEHALF OF SOME KOSSACKS
There are many kossack wanting to attend the inauguration and they are in need of tickets. They are requesting assistance in acquiring these tickets. If you have access to tickets or are willing to request tickets from your Congress critter or your Senators, communicate here in Mojo Friday during the week. You're assistance is appreciated.
Mojo Friday Guidelines
1. If you comment you have to recommend all comments. (in order to recieve mojo you have to give mojo. It's only good mojo manners.)
2. Everything you say may be taken as a joke (so if you ask a question, expect a silly answer)
3. You must recommend the diary (and pimp it unapologetically)
4. You don't have to comment to recommend.
5. You can't steal my idea (right, like that ain't goin' to happen)
6. Please, no pictures or YouTubes until after 300 comments
7. Mojo mojo mojo mojo, mojo mojo mojo
Mojo Friday Goals
A. at least 300 different commenters and 1000 comments by 1:30 PM EST and 1500 by 5:00 PM EST Friday Night that it's posted.
B. 100 recommends for each comment, at least.
C. Stay on Recommend List at least five hours (this requires some strategic planning by you guys, refer to guideline #3)
D. At least 200 diary recommends. 300 would be better, spread the word.
E. And always, fun fun fun.
F. Have at least 75% average participation rate as seen here in the Mojo Friday Postgame Show by Hedwig.
G. (New) Have at least 30 kossacks over 90% participation (see here for some tips).
H. Overload the servers with recommends, not to mention dominate Top Comments Mojo list. (we do tend to mess with the site with all of our recommends at one time)(also, to dominate the Top Comments Top Mojo we need at least 50 comments with over 100 recommends, see guideline B)
I. That's enough for now. (Have a suggestion? Post it.)
