I live in Chicago and I happened to be walking toward Michigan Avenue when I spotted a camera crew setting up some Fresnel lights. Now, at this point it's about 7 in the morning and I'm Jonesing for coffee so it doesn't register that Obama's giving his press conference here. Any way, I walk by and see a CNN remote truck and then notice there's a few more lined up on the side of the street.
This is also when I notice the two burly guys in black suits and ties walking past me. Again, it's 7 in the morning so I'm too tired to be intimidated by the possibility that these guys are Secret Service so I ask one of them what's going on.
"Senator- uh, President-Elect Obama is giving his press conference here," he says kindly.
Suffice it to say that this is a short diary from now but since I have access to my school's TV Department equipment cage, I'm hoping to shoot some video of Obama heading into/out of the press conference if I can. If I'm able to do it, watch this area in the next day / few hours for some YouTubery.
Oh, and Soledad O'Brien is shorter in real life.
