Today in his first post-election press conference, in responding to a question as to whether he'd spoken to all of the "living former presidents," President-elect Obama answered that he's spoken to all the former presidents, Carter, Bush, Clinton, as well as the current Bush. He also quipped: "I have spoken to all of them who are living. I didn’t want to get into a Nancy Reagan thing about doing any séances."

Apparently he was thinking back to articles like this from Time:

which reported on Nancy Reagan using an astrologer to determine President Reagan's schedule. But apparently she didn't do seances in the White House. That was Mary Todd Lincoln.
The wingnuts, like Pavlov's dog, are baying at the moon over this "outrage."
I actually think it was a great quip, although over the heads of most of the press corps. I think he was slyly making the point that when it comes to the economic crisis, he's not going to rely on "voodoo economics" like the Republicans, but will focus on reality.
Of course, you've lost a joke if you have to explain it. He was mighty tired today. We've got many wonderful pressers and speeches to look forward to.
