I know exactly what we need to do!
It's a foolproof strategy! First, we have to forget about the feelings of unity we created during the election; then we can crumple up all that progressive momentum we gathered during the election and throw it in the garbage! I know what you're thinking...
"But DonBito, on election night I almost fell asleep in a whirling hot tub of good vibes! How can I possibly force myself and my fellow Kossacks to feel like we're suddenly drowning in a trash can of cold fecal matter?"
Well, my friends, it's easy! Let's break out the nasty racist/homophobic finger pointing and infighting, McSame-Quaylin-style! Never let it be said that we can't keep up with the right wing trends! Yes we can! I'm telling you, this is the only sure-fire way to assure liberty and justice for all.
I'm sorry, but WTF is happening here?
How can we possibly justify turning against groups of people who are still struggling to assert their identities in this country?
How can everyone continue to bicker and bitch back and forth about whether African-Americans or gays are to blame as if these identities/communities are mutually exclusive??
What is the point of assigning blame at all???
To the members of the queer community here who have been adamant in blaming African-Americans for this tragedy - in ANY capacity - thanks a buttload. I'm so glad you're out there building alliances, winning allies, and all in all just really showing your commitment to the cause.
To the members of the queer community comparing the struggles of queers today to the struggles of African-Americans under slavery: so sorry your tax breaks won't be coming through this year, but you really need to get a clue.
To the members of the African-American community denying that queer equality is a matter of civil rights: sorry so many middle-class white gays are still so ignorant, but you really need to get a clue.
To the folks ignoring all this ridiculous sniping and posting substantive diaries about protests that are happening and should be happening: thanks. I'm not as level-headed as you.
