There are several news articles about cyber attacks on McCain and Obama campaigns.
The Financial Times is reporting that the cyber attacks are coming from China.
US government cyber experts suspect that an attack on the Obama and McCain campaign computer networks this summer originated from China, according to a US official.
Earlier this summer, the Secret Service and Federal Bureau of Investigation warned Barack Obama's and John McCain's campaign teams that their computer networks had been compromised by foreign hackers.
The cyber attackers successfully downloaded large quantities of information from the campaign networks, which security agencies believed was an attempt to learn more about the contenders' policy positions.
The scariest part about the Financial Times article:
The Chinese military last year hacked into the Pentagon system serving Robert Gates, the defence secretary, stealing information from an unclassified network in the most serious breach of the military's computer network.
I will raise my hand to say, "I didn't know this had even happened!" Was this big news and I was taking a nap?? When did it happen last year?

Zdnet.com has its own story on this:
White House and FBI officials said a foreign entity sought information on the evolution of policy position. The Obama campaign hired a security firm, which plugged the leaks.

These events shine a spotlight on President-elect Obama’s choice of a chief technology officer. Whoever fills that position will have to put cyberwarfare and strengthening government network security at the top of his list. That will mean close coordination with the Dept. of Homeland Security, the Defense Department and the State Department.
