Guess not.
I'm no psychoanalyst, but what the heck's going on with people leaving this site?
I've been looking at the list of new diaries recently. Invariably, there is one in which the diarist is declaring that he/she is leaving DKos, never to post again. Heck, they even make it to the rec list occasionally (Congrats Wartoad). Happily, some regret their decision and return.
Is it me or has there been a spike in the "farewell" diaries since the election? I guess it’s been a watershed moment in more than one sense. I really think there might be something to it. Are there any syndrome experts out there who could explain this up-tick (without pissing off more DKos members that is)?
Members of this site have investing so much time, effort and emotion into this election that I’m sure there is something of an anti-climax now that the election is over. Remember folks, the election is over, but the war rages on. And don't worry if your opinion on some issues differs from most on the site. And definitely don’t worry if some pinhead fails to respond to a point you are making in a respectful way. Most of the people here don’t engage in such nonsense.
PS.
If anyone should be pissed off, it’s me. Has any seen the clunker diaries I’ve posted? The answer for most is easily "no" because apparently no one read them (or if they did, they decided to move on without comment). Now that’s depressing. For those of you who occasionally get hammered by the "grammar" police or "non-conformist alert" commission, think of me. Think of the sadness welling up in me as I see my diaries ignored.
PPS.
I’ve thought about it some more. I think I should declare that I’m leaving the site also (even if I have no intention of actually doing so). I’ll let it all spill out. Emotions pouring out. The whole ball of wax. Maybe then, just maybe, I’ll get a few comments. The rec list? -- no way, not even I’m that delusional.
