I am 13, and I am ecstatic about the election's results. I knew that the outcome would make the difference in my future, and it also shows that almost everyone can become president, almost.

The results have shown that my future is a little more secure. I will worry a little bit less about climate change, which is the most important issue, in my opinion. If nothing is done now, there is no undoing what was done. If we do not solve the crisis or at least limit its effects, I will have no future. If we do nothing, deserts will spread, the seas will rise, storms will become stronger, and overall the Earth will become a hell hole.
Knowledge that our involvement in Iraq will shrink to a minimal level in about a year and a half means that I will not need to worry about having its burden be thrown on my shoulders, although the cost probably will.
The some $10 trillion of debt will still end up mostly on my generation's shoulders, but it hopefully won't grow.
The economy has a higher chance of leaving enough intact for me to have job when I grow up and my parents are less likely to lose their jobs, like what has happened to the families of many of my friends.
This election has also shown the effect that any American can have on the election. I know other kids who went down to PA to register new voters and friends have made calls to voters. This election has proven to all of this that anyone can make a difference if they try.
However, the passing of ballot measures such as Prop. 8 in California and the elimination of gay couple's right to adopt in Arkansas have shown that some groups still are oppressed, but we can change that. I know that this will change, despite some kids who are homophobic, racist, or hate anyone who is different, the youth of our country are overwhelmingly open minded.
The course of the election has also shown me that too many people will believe anything that they hear, no matter how ridiculous. But, most people are learning to see through mud, hopefully mud slinging will end.
My generation is also keen to use the web, and I have seen how powerful of a force it is. YouTube, Facebook, and of course blogs have had a tremendous level of influence on the election.
I meant to write this earlier, but I started my account on 11/3, so I had to wait. Please give me recommendations to help write better diaries, this is my first one. Thank you for reading
