This is a fairly wide open concept. Not too many rulz.
Make a poem out of some food, cooking or political thing. It can be subtle or wazoo, delicious or whackadoodle.
I'm a pretty good cook, (a pretty cook in my heyday as well, but garlic both elevated and did me in). I can cook up a dish from any part of the world. Indian, Thai, Italian, Moroccan, Persian, German, Jewish, and Chinese.
But my favorite food is potatoes. Boiled potatoes.
Let us jump.
Here is my potato poem:
Boiled Potatoes
Two pounds of potatoes
any kind
Rinse them well
Cover with water
Maybe toss in some garlic cloves
maybe not
a handful of salt in the water.
When fork tender,
rinse in cold water to stop cooking
but this is where the real cooking begins.
Drizzle on some Olive Oil, the good stuff,
then toss in some Dill, parseley, chives,
Salt & pepper
Stir it up.
You can toss in some cheese,
sour cream,
whatever...
I also make a killer steak,
but it's naked without
boiled potatoes.
I can happily eat
boiled potatoes with no steak
But Steak without potatoes...
Not much.
Boiled potatoes
stand alone.
The perfect food.
Somehow I find
a political truth in this.
Boiled potatoes
can be spicy, savory or plain,
but anyway you dress them
I likes.
I feel this is a Howardly food,
and as such, nourishing and
delicious. But frankly,
if there never was a Howard Dean
at this point, we would all
have to learn to love
boiled potatoes, rice and beans,
bread and water
anyways.

I also make some poem-worthy salads.
How about you?
