. . . as it was a November day in 1963 in Dallas, Texas and the country was turned over to not only a man of evil, but an entire movement of evil that followed. The assassinations of JFK, RFK & MLK virtually murdered the soul of modern liberalism and gave rise to the modern conservative movement. I am writing this diary because I’ve seen other diaries that write about this post 1964 period but don’t understand the core events and problems which has caused us to wonder in the wilderness for so long.
I do not want to sound like a conspiracy nut, but these assassinations were not just by lone nuts. There was a purpose and force behind them and they are the root cause of our problems today.
We became a dysfunctional nation after the JFK murder and LBJ ran this country into the ground with his "guns and butter" strategy. He destroyed families of poor Americans with welfare and war and called it the "Great Society". It was nothing more than a pig with lipstick, it was still a pig.
Should I praise him on Civil Rights, no, it was Kennedy's policy passed with JFK's blood! Had Kennedy lived we would have been out of Vietnam before a majority of the causalities took place, but instead LBJ jumped into the conflict and escalated it with a lie, sound familiar????
I give no quarter to LBJ, in fact he is the cancer that caused the long drought from White House power for the Democrats (4 years out of 24 years) and his corruption is legendary. All 3 assassinations occurred under LBJ and assisted the resurrection of Nixon, Reagan and Bush. Please no diatribes on what a great guy LBJ was he, because he was not, he was as low as there has ever been, right down there with Aaron Burr!
I see great things and hope with Barrack Obama. The hate speech of the right has already begun and the man has not even taken office. I think all liberals, moderates and conservatives need to get behind our new President-elect and work with him and not against him.
The hate has to stop as Mr. Welch said in the famous exchange with Mr. McCarthy, "You've done enough. Have you no sense of decency, sir, at long last? Have you left no sense of decency?"
This hate that is spewed by the Right-Wing Noise machine is not helpful and is in fact a potential prelude to another American political disaster. This same hate was reviled against the JFK prior to his assassination and had been encourage by reactionary forces within society and government. Let's hope that the fate of this 21st Hope is not the same of the 1960's. If it is, we will be doomed as a nation, but I am hopeful this is more of a New Deal II.
What can we do? We need to defeat hate, but, how? We can blog our opinions on the news sites, including fox and call into the right-wing shows and express our displeasure with the hate being spewed before the guy is even taking office. I heard several people on Hannity’s show call and give him the what for on the hate towards Obama.
Maybe for once we can all come together as a nation and say with one loud and strong voice to the radicals and nuts on the right "Have you no sense of decency! STOP THE HATE!"
