As exciting as it is to speculate over whether Richardson, Clinton or Kerry will become SOS, I'm much more eager to hear who will be appointed Secretary of the Interior.
It's not just because current SOI, Dirk "The Rubber Dodo" Kempthorne, seems to think his job is clearing the United States of excess species as opposed to conserving them.
It's not just because the current Department of the Interior is a frat-house.
It's also for a very small and very personal reason.
See, Obama and I have this friend in common, who is a professor and a conservation scientist*.
And he tells me that some time ago, Barack offered him the post.
Not that I actually think he'll take it. He tells me he just wants Parks and Fish and Wildlife. But the fact that the job was even on the table for him is freaking awesome! Obama is clearly aiming to have someone in charge of the United States beasties who actually has the know-how to manage them with THEIR best interests in mind!

* - You'll forgive me if I don't actually name him. Either he gets the job, and everyone will know it soon enough, or he doesn't, and then the whole thing will be moot.

Hurray for greenery!
