Like all of us here, I believe that enough is enough with the Lieberman story. I am tired of the games and the theater. Lieberman does not belong to the democratic party. He has been an embarrassment to the democrats and he should be absolutely stripped of his chairmanship.
But beyond that, the Lieberman case is important in another way. It will show and establish whether some democrats in the senate understand the meaning of the world CHANGE. Let me clarify the definition for some of them: Keeping Lieberman as Chair of Homeland Security is ANYTHING but change. Trying to do anything possible to keep Lieberman in the caucus is ANYTHING but change.
I find it particularly disturbing that democratic senators who ask for the support of the netroots when they need it are willing to advocate for Lieberman. One example is Chris Dodd from Connecticut. I just found this about senator Dodd that I think is very disturbing. From that article:
U.S. Sen. Christopher J. Dodd renewed his support for his embattled colleague Joe Lieberman Saturday.
Speaking as he left a meeting on after-school programs in Farmington, Dodd again urged Democrats to put aside the idea of stripping Lieberman of an important committee chairmanship.
I find that totally unacceptable and offensive to the millions of voters who voted for change. I dont care that Dodd is a senator in the same state with Lieberman or is a friend of Lieberman's. That is his problem, not the problem of the voters.
Senator Dodd has posted diaries in Daily Kos in the past asking for the support of the bloggosphere. I think it should be made crystal-clear to him that if he continues supporting Lieberman, he would never ever again get out support. Enough is enough.
