How can Obama seriously be considering Hillary for Secretary of State, after she spread the malicious and demonstrably false idea that Obama couldn't win the general election.
If she truly believed that he couldn't win, then that reflects very poorly on her intelligence, and shows that she is lacking even the most rudimentary understanding of the American electorate. If she did not believe it, but spread the idea anyway, then that reveals her to be a liar who says or does anything to win elections. Either way, she is not a person of the character and moral fitness we need as Secretary of State.
This was the story:
ABC News reports:
Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., and former President Bill Clinton are making very direct arguments to Democratic superdelegates, starkly insisting Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., cannot win a general election against presumptive Republican nominee, Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz.
Sources with direct knowledge of the conversation between Sen. Clinton and Governer Bill Richardson, D-N.M., prior to the Governor's endorsement of Obama say she told him flatly, "He cannot win, Bill. He cannot win."

It is of course true that in campaigns people say all kinds of crap they dont believe in the hopes of winning, but this instance of it is unusually lame. In telling people that Obama couldn't win, she is trying to exploit latent racism and cynically perpetuating a climate of doubt and fear. Inexcusable, and fortunately for us all, she was dead wrong.
