I just got an email from the Boston Globe, saying that Sen.John Kerry (D-MA) will get to chair the Senate's Foreign Relations comittee.
Now that Senator Joe Biden (D-DE) was elected Vice-President, he will resign from his senate seat, hence losing his committees. The Senate has chosen Senator John Kerry (D-MA) to replace him. An announcement could come later today.
Could this nomination be a way to tell us that John Kerry won't be nominated as Secretary Of State? Or, instead, it's a good way of putting his name out there to show that he has the foreign policy "gravitas" for such a post?
We saw that the Obama transition team is not above leaking some info with the name of Eric Holder revealed by Newsweek as Barack Obama's choice for Attorney General. I won't believe any leak until the nominations are announced (I seems to recall that this usually happen in December?)
Anyways, there isn't a lot of meat in this diary and I appologize. It's just that I wanted to relay an important info from the Senate that I received in my inbox.
