So, we have some news from Minnesota, where the senate recount has begun, and it seems like fairly good news for Al Franken so far.
follow results here: http://electionresults.sos.state.mn....
Coleman's lead has been cut from 215 votes at the beginning of the day to 172 votes. Nate Silver is following these results, and concludes:
If the first day's results are indicative of the pace that the candidates will maintain throughout the recount process, Franken would gain a net of 278 votes over Colmean, giving him a narrow victory.
Updates below the jump....
According to Minnesota's sec of state office (linky above) 15.49% of ballots have been counted so far. This includes 43.25% of the votes for Coleman and 39.99% of the votes for Franken (including votes gained and lost). Don't know what that means, if anything.
Franken's camp has challenged 106 ballots, Coleman's has challenged 115.
To me, this suggests that this election may not be final until all of these contested ballots are decided one way or another.
Update 2: Therefore, it is Urgent for us to donate to and support Al Franken's recount fund! Go here if you have any cash to donate: https://secure.alfranken.com/...
