No big deal here. Just a pleasant thought. I love the New York Times, but you know when you read Friedman or Brooks or Kristof and they wax hypothetical about what they'd do if they were in charge --- everyone would drive a car made that runs on happiness; first thing I'd do is provide free health care for everyone in America by taxing stupidity and incentivizing innovation....yada, yada. You know it's all great but really, dudes you're just columnists? You actually gonna do something about it?
So, when reading Herbert'slatest, and I got to the part where it read
"It will be a two-year, nationwide effort to jump-start job creation in America and lay the foundation for a strong and growing economy. We’ll put people back to work rebuilding our crumbling roads and bridges, modernizing schools that are failing our children and building wind farms and solar panels, fuel-efficient cars and the alternative energy technologies that can free us from our dependence on foreign oil and keep our economy competitive in the years ahead.”
You know, I was rolling my eyes and thinking here's another bright idea by someone who sits at a desk writing all day... And then, I saw -- there they were -- quotation marks -- I looked up and realized it wasn't just another grand thought experiment...it was a quote from Obama's radio address......And that really did make me happy :)
