More often than we can bear, we see diaries such as this one where Kossacks are suffering. When we see these, we tend to respond with a lot of wonderful community energy. And a desire to be able to do more as a community and not simply as a political actions group.
As a response to a series of these diaries and their attendant comments, etherapy created a social network site for Kossacks. It's a companion site to this one, where we can connect on a personal level sharing resources, ideas and experiences. People are looking for jobs, posting job positions, brainstorming new business ideas, helping fellow Kossacks in emergencies. As of now, we have over 2,000 members!
Our community members, all of whom are here to support the Progressive agenda with us, sometimes lose their jobs, or their homes, ortheir loved ones, or their health. When these things happen life can seem like a brutal and lonely venture and it can drain one's ability to give effort to any cause other than self-survival. Sometimes you have to focus on self-survival, but as members of this community there is no reason for any of us to feel isolated in our troubles. Indeed, most often when people write about their travails they get a tremendous amount of warm and supportive comments. Often there are useful pieces of information and suggestions and offers of concrete support. And almost every time, someone mentions how they wish we could do more inter-personal connecting and supporting as a community.
Well, now we can. Come join us at the Kossacks Networking site. People are posting about job seeking and job offerings, sharing personal experiences. Finding Kossacks local to them. And so much more. When a Kossak is in need and we want to help, we can keep that topic front and center for as long we like. Already there is talk of a micro-loan fund, for instance. The possibilities of what we can do together as a social enterprise is only limited to our imagination and our willingness to cement the bonds we've built as members of DailyKos. By doing so, we further our commitment to the mission here and the ability of all the members to stay involved.
So, please join us. We're two weeks old and we have over 250 1400 2,000 members! Can we reach out to brighten the days of our fellow dKos members? Yes. We. Can.
