I think we can all agree that Fox News is a pure propaganda outlet for the Republican party. The same can also be said for MSNBC (with the exception of Keith Olbermann). Unfortunately, CNN has also moved squarely into the Republican propaganda machine category. This means that Democrats and Independents are no longer being served by these corporate media institutions. They are simply promulgating the talking points of one political party at the expense of everyone else. Furthermore, these media institutions are engaging in deliberate misinformation and smear campaigns of political opponents and critics of the Republic regime which has taken control over all three branches of government.
Enough is enough, Fox News, MSNBC and CNN have shown where their allegiances lie and it is not with the American people and it is particularly not with Democrats and Independents. These corporate Republican media outlets think they are omnipotent and can treat Democrats and Independents like shit on the bottom of their shoes. Well, we have two important tools at our disposal that can end this corrupt propaganda machinery that is masquerading as journalism. The lessons can be found in the Montgomery bus boycott. Our tools are our eyes and the power to shame those who are steeped in corruption.
First, we must recognize that we receive nothing of value by watching Fox, MSNBC and CNN. They are Republican propaganda outlets that do not inform the public (this is why the American public is so ignorant on the facts of policy). Look at what they did with the King funeral and how they turned it into a Republican weapon to berate Democrats with. Look at the continual ranting of the buffoons Chris Matthews and Sean Hannity. Watching this crap is akin to subjecting yourself to spousal abuse over and over again. There are no redeeming benefits, only a down side. So, with the exception of Keith Olbermann and perhaps a few others, we (meaning Democrats, Independents and free thinking Republicans) should not watch Fox News, MSNBC and CNN. Like the Montgomery bus boycott this will send a strong message. If you do not treat us fairly you have nothing to offer us.
This will serve the dual purpose of drastically lowering their ratings and consequently their appeal to advertisers. It will also help to point out the shame that has become what has been referred to as mainstream media but is, in fact, Republican corporate media representing Republican interests first and foremost.
By the way, not only will this break the cycle of Fox/MSNC/CNN abuse of non-Republican viewers. It will give us the ability to do better things with our time. And, never fear, we always have Daily Kos, Crooks and Liars, and many other worthy outlets to inform us of the daily outrages that occur at the corporate "news" outlets.
What about it, folks? Do you think we can give up the self-abuse of watching Fox, MSNBC and CNN or is there an American need for masochism that overrides common sense?
