I write about my location a lot because I feel somewhat alone here in Collier County Florida.
Sure, I just found out about the Collier Democratic Club and we are brainstorming some community service ideas, but there are so few of us in this county.
This county is uncharted territory for any super-liberal group or person who seizes the moment. Of course, I'd like to be that one, but it takes time.
Until then, if anyone wants to join or start down here, this is what the "battlefield" looks like...
According to the Collier County Supervisor of elections (www.colliervotes.com) registrations look like this:
Republican - 101,848
Democrat - 52,586
NPA - 39,555
Other - 9,086
2 to 1 and still not even close if you count the NPA. Every local elected position (even non-partisan) are registered Republicans (http://www.colliergop.org/local.htm). I do know a lot of people in Collier are RINO's, but the numbers can be troubling.
Even on the site of the Collier ACLU they had newsletters ending last year in August!! I'm sure they are still around, but I can't see any sign of them.
I guess my reasoning for this "call to assemble" is to 1) Make some awareness of our area to see a chance of "insertion" for a Democrat to make their mark on the community here (as I would like to someday) 2) show that even a "red county" can be seized by a Democrat at the right time and 3) see if there are any Kosacks out there that I may not know that are in Collier.
Sorry for the rambling, I just don't see to many Dems down here other than the Dem Club :) Give 'em a shout out if you want :)
