Seems the kosophere has been all a-flutter with Obama's picks of late. If I had a nickel for every time someone has said "This is not the change I voted for!", I'd be able to finance GM's bail-out myself.
I'd like to answer the question if I may.
Change is waking up knowing that in less than two months, the first African-American president of the United States will take the oath of office.
Change is seeing a competent, intelligent person preparing to take charge.
Change is seeing a President who actually is striving for bipartianship. Nothing less than this will get us through the mess that he's been handed.
Change is having hope for the future. Despite the massive financial crisis coming our way, I have full faith and confidence that Barack Obama and his team will be able to handle it and handle it well. That's change for the better.
Change is watching in wonder as Obama's approval rating climbs up to nearly 70%--before he's even taken office. Do we realize how remarkable that is? People are seeing his actions and realizing that this is a man who is ready to take charge. This is amazing.
Change is having a President who's stated unequivocally that he's going to shut down Guantanamo. He's actually going to do it.
Having a candidate actually keep his promises is change.
Change is having a President who fully supports universal health care. Now it's not a question of when, but of if. Instead of arguing about whether we should implement universal health care, we're not arguing about what form that care will take. That's a major change in policy.
Change is seeing Obama's team sweep into every corner of Bush's administration to identify areas of improvement, before he even takes office. This will allow him to immediately start to act. Instead of waiting for his swearing-in ceremony, he's beginning to act now to fix the problems facing this country.
I don't know about everyone else, but I think that so far Obama has delivered major change.
