Who would have thought something like THIS would happen in the waning months of the Bush Administration: members of George Bush's Army For Hire have suddenly been or will be indicted by a grand jury:
Five Blackwater guards have been told to surrender to the FBI by Monday to face federal manslaughter and assault charges connected to the shooting deaths of 17 civilians at an traffic circle in Iraq last year, ABC News has learned.
The federal investigation revealed that two of the Blackwater guards did most of the shooting and are expected to face either murder or manslaughter charges, law enforcement officials said.
They identified the two as Dustin Heard, of Tennessee, a former Marine who joined Blackwater in 2004; and Paul Slough, of Texas, a former U.S. Army infantry soldier who joined Blackwater in 2006.
OK, George, I guess you haven't sufficiently politicized the Justice Department. SO GET BUSY! After all, we can't have justice applied to the death of innocent Iraqi civilians, now can we? Only 48 days to go!
It just goes to show - even the Republicans can't screw with a grand jury.
Frankly, I'm stunned. More pardon opportunities for GWB! I'll watch this with GREAT interest.
I've been desperately trying to find a quote from one of my books on Iraq regarding the cowboys who used Iraq as their personal Grand Theft Auto simulation. I'll be back as soon as I can with a pertinent quote.
Really, I thought this would never happen. This cannot be good news for the Blackwater organization in general.
Ahhh. Doesn't the sunshine feel good?
EDIT 1: Here's a HILARIOUS quote from Blackater's own site (just Google them):
Safe, realistic, and challenging are the hallmarks of Blackwater Worldwide’s training facilities and training staff. Whether its small arms training, advanced counterterrorism training, language training or gaining cultural knowledge for a specific country, we serve to improve the mission capability and ultimate success of law enforcement organizations, military organizations, and other federal agencies.
