A long running lawsuit against Wal-Mart on behalf of workers in Minnesota has settled. This case involved allegations that Wal-mart required workers to miss breaks and lunches and work off the clock.
Wal-mart has agreed to pay over $54 Million, including fines to the State of Minnesota for wage and hour law violations. Wal-mart also agreed to be subject to injunctions requiring it to comply with Minnesota wage and hour law and its own policies.
This case was filed in 2001. A trial on liability issues was held earlier this year. This settlement is in lieu of a jury deciding damages.
