The "Traditional Media" as Kos calls it, is now making things up re: the Blagojevich fiasco to get at Obama. The latest manufactured scandal regarding Obama is absurd. (HWGA stands for Here We Go Again).
The traditional media, or as I call it, the MSM, is now actively trying to attach the Blagojevich drama to Obama in a ridiculous attempt to either discredit him somehow, gin up ratings, or both. The latest article by the Associated Press on the topic was written by none other than Liz Sidoti.
The first paragraph of the article makes it perfectly clear that Obama is guilty of no wrongdoing whatsoever (just as in the Rezko case).
WASHINGTON – President-elect Barack Obama hasn't even stepped into office and already a scandal — not of his own making — is threatening to dog him.
Obama isn't accused of anything. But the fact that Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich, a fellow Democrat, has been charged with trying to sell Obama's now-vacant Senate post gives political opponents an opening to criticize him. A slew of questions remain. The investigation is still under way. And the ultimate impact on Obama is far from certain.
So you see? Obama didn't do anything wrong whatsoever. And yet the scandal is threatening to "dog him"??? How's that, Liz?
The article goes on to show how Obama was totally playing by the rules. This has been rehashed already here in previous diaries, but it warrants repeating.
In Chicago on Tuesday, U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald said prosecutors were making no allegations that Obama was aware of any scheming. And Blagojevich himself, in taped conversations cited by prosecutors, suggested that Obama wouldn't be helpful to him. Even if the governor was to appoint a candidate favored by the Obama team, Blagojevich said, "they're not willing to give me anything except appreciation."
So basically, as we can see, both Patrick Fitzgerald and Rod Blagojevich are saying, "Obama played by the rules and didn't do anything wrong."
Sidoti goes on to write:
The two Illinois politicians have never been close and have largely operated in different Democratic Party camps in the state. Blagojevich's disdain for Obama was clear in court documents; he is quoted as calling the president-elect a vulgar term in one phone conversation recorded by the FBI.
Um, okay, so where exactly is the STORY? The headline reads "Analysis: Scandal threatens to dog Obama"
Maybe it should read, "Analysis: Everyone says Obama played by the rules." Or maybe, "Analysis: Nothing to see here regarding Obama, move along now."
But of course, you can never underestimate Sidoti's ability to push the Republican talking points in order to somehow validate them, no matter how absurd they actually are:
Republicans pounced nonetheless.
"The serious nature of the crimes listed by federal prosecutors raises questions about the interaction with Gov. Blagojevich, President-elect Obama and other high ranking officials who will be working for the future president," said Rep. Eric Cantor of Virginia, the new GOP House whip.
Sorry Eric, does not compute. If anything, Obama's people were responsible for helping bring down Blagojevich.
