I don't know if this has been diaried, and I thank OrangeClouds115 for leading the charge on this issue - but I wanted to get this out as soon as possible. I just discovered a place you can sign a petition asking president-elect Obama to support the choices for Agriculture Secretary (or, as Nicholas Kristof suggests, perhaps a "food secretary") that have been endorsed by the sustainable food/farming movement (Michael Pollan, Alice Waters, etc.).
Sign the petition here
When I signed this afternoon, there were almost 24,000 signatures - it seems to me that this is the kind of webroots effort DKos is so effective at supporting.
The voices for sane, compassionate, healthy alternatives to the current agriculture policy are rising. As Michael Pollan says, the food issue is "interdisciplinary" - i.e., it is connected to almost every crucial national and global issue we face - health, environment, global warming, education, the economy, poverty, war, famine, etc. What could be more important than letting Obama know what you think about our national food policy?
Add your voice to the chorus.
