As we all know by now, framing the debate is key and an irresistably simple phrase like "the president just wants up or down votes" just seems so reasonable.
I think I've come up with an equally simple response:
If the founding fathers had wanted simple up or down votes, they would have given the authority to the House and not the Senate.
