Ok, maybe I don't get a say since I don't live in New York, but I would like to have her as my Senator.
Political experience is overrated. The crowd that Bush 43 surrounded himself with 8 years ago was overloaded with experience, and see where that got us. While I wouldn't pick just anyone off the street - or anyone in my immediate family for that matter - to fill the role of US Senator, I like the idea of bringing in smart people who haven't spent their lives in political office.
The founding fathers - who got a lot of things right - seemed to have liked the concept of citizen legislators; people who didn't make a career out of running for office. I think she fits that description.
And name recognition does count for something. She seems to be on the right side of the issues I think of as important - especially her interest in improving education. And if I was a New Yorker I would like to have her use her clout to get things done for me. It is easy to picture that people will listen to her in the Senate.
I hope New York gives her the chance to prove herself.
