I fell in love with DailyKos during the course of the very, very, very, very long 2008 elections. I was a junkie, reading several times per day...sometimes per hour.
Throughout the whole ordeal I considered myself a netroots, dailykos liberal. Right up until the day Obama actually got elected. Now I suddenly find myself disagreeing with so many of the folks who see top billing around here. Obama is doing exactly what I elected him to do: curry the favor and trust of all Americans so he can more easily establish sustainable and lasting progressive policies.
What's going on here, right? We won! We run the show now. Obama should embody our fury and rage. He needs to shove through the Liberal ideology no matter what, sans lube, and make our enemies pay painfully for their callous, hateful ways. We are right. They are wrong. Game over. They need to at very least sit down and shut up, and at most sit in solitary confinement with their sins exposed for a hundred years.
Obama should be nothing short of the liberal version of George W. Bush.
And he's not.
And that's driving his supporters bat shit insane.
I'm going to tell you again that Barack Hussein Obama is doing EXACTLY what I elected him to do. He's doing everything exactly right. If we use the same strategies the Republicans did over the past 8 to 14 years, then we're idiots, because we can expect exactly the same results Republicans achieved. Their party and president are pariahs, internally crumbling. And their ideologies are considered abject failures. Why? Because they spent their time in power so obsessed with demolishing their enemies they forgot they actually had any ideas or values beyond power.
Everybody just needs to chill out about this Warren thing and his Republican cabinet choices. I know, I know, you think Warren is a Nazi and tantamount to a white supremacist, but for straight people. But, ya know what? We live in a democracy and a lot of idiots love that dickwad. And we need the trust of those idiots to get sustainable liberal policies passed, unless we employ the failed strategies of Bush. And consider the toxic partisan divide Obama inherited from his aggressively partisan predecessor, he's going to have to make some GRAND, bold gestures to get the necessary population to trust him that his policies are the right ones.
Look. Obama isn't even in office yet. Give the man a little faith. Give him a frickin' year before you start accusing him of stabbing you in the back.
UPDATE --
I think it's important to realize with the Pastor Warren thing, Obama is inviting him because he'a an evangelical. Not because he's anti gay.
In fairness to Obama there's no good way to reach out to evangelicals without also reaching out to Anti-Gay people. They're sort of a package deal. I think to completely shut out Evangelicals and not reach out to them is to guarantee we're going to see our favorite Alaskan Governor rise to greater prominence shudder
