Pope Benedict XVI has said that saving humanity from homosexual or transsexual behaviour is just as important as saving the rainforest from destruction.
He explained that defending God's creation is not limited to saving the environment, but also protecting man from self-destruction.
It could be pointed out that the Catholic Church really needs to notice the log in it's own eye before criticizing the mote in the eyes of others.
It also could be mentioned that when Hitler's genocidal agenda was steamrolling Germany, people of good conscience fled or gave their lives fighting the greatest evil of the 20th century. Pope Ratzxi the Nazi joined the Hitler youth. This though is irrelevant.
Gays, lesbians, and transgendered people are who they are. If there is a creator, he/she/it made them that way. There is nothing wrong with them other than the guilt, shame, and repression that twisted people like the Pope creates in beautiful human beings to serve his twisted ideology.
I am not going to engage in Catholic bashing. There are many people of faith who wrestle with the contradictions of their beliefs, and their calling to serve others in a higher duty.
This statement by the pope can not stand unchallenged however. Perhaps it is time to gas up Michael Moore's sodommobile and ship it to Vatican City. If the RV is rocking, two men married legally (for a few months anyways in California) are sanctifying their love inside and don't want you knocking.
The pope uses his traditional end-of-year speech to offer his Christmas greetings and say a few words about what he considers the important issues of the day.
I have a few uncouth words for the pope. But I will keep them to myself.
