My mind is crying out for a Warren-ectomy. I've engaged in too many Groundhog Day conversations here where it feels like we are chasing our own tails to exhaustion. I have a gay daughter in California whose marriage has been attacked by Prop 8, but mucking around in the Warren Diary Wars isn't going to change a thing.
I'm at the point where I realize that even my most passionate and well reasoned argument is not going to change Obama's mind with recycled arguments. In fact, I won't change anyone's mind around here.
The Warren debate has become a modern form of WWI trench warfare with opposing troops hunkered down in fortified bunkers for the long slog.
Warren is gonna happen and I've got to deal with it.
I don't understand it. I don't like it, but I'm ready to move on.
So what's next?
The inauguration will soon pass, but my advocacy for my daughter will not.
Here is an e-mail that could become a vehicle for GLBT support during inauguration week.
Dear Obama Supporters,
My name is Jeremy Walker and I'm working with the Presidential Inaugural Committee to help coordinate President-elect Obama's National Day of Service here SW Washington, Eastern Washington. As you probably have heard, President-elect Obama has committed to honor Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, the day before his own historic Inauguration, by calling on the entire country to participate in a community service project.
I was an Organizer on the campaign this past fall based in Gig Harbor, WA and we're hoping to reactivate our volunteer base to set up hundreds of Community Service projects across Washington State. You were identified by your Field Organizer as one of our most dedicated volunteers during the campaign, and we need your help! We need volunteers to identify and plan a community service project. It doesn't have to be big at all. The idea is to bring out members of your community for a common purpose to celebrate and continue the Change that you helped bring to our Country back in November.
We've been given a goal of having between 10 service projects in Southwest Washington submitted to the inaugural website by this coming weekend. So if you have an extra hour this week to track down a potential service project and get it up online, don't wait! This will be a great tribute to the new direction President-elect Obama is ready to take our entire country, regardless of partisan or political stripe.
Interested? Please read the attached documents that give a complete rundown of the program, the Inaugural Committee's goals, and a breakdown on how to go about setting up service project. Then go to the Inaugural Website at: to http://www.pic2009.org/... fill out the information, and then email me with the information as well so I can be sure to track the information for our part of Washington State.

Know someone else who would be interested too? Spread the word far and wide! Feel free to pass along this information and these documents to anyone you think might take this idea and run with it.
This is an opportunity to support our local gay and lesbian community, such as having PFLAG educational activities included on the list of National Service Day activities. I'm looking for specific activities to submit that are supportive to the GLBT community.
Any ideas?
I'm ready to roll up my sleeves.
