A pointer to three items in the NY Times that otherwise might slip by on a Saturday.
Number One: Bob Herbert states the obvious in Stop Being Stupid. With the poster child for Stupid leaving the White House, it's long overdue.
Number Two: An idea that makes sense: The Gas Tax. Detroit CAN build small efficient cars - but what's the point if low U.S. gas prices continue to subsidize gas guzzlers? If America is going to stop being stupid, smart tax policies as part of a bigger picture are one way to get there.
Number Three: Worried about home heating costs? There's a new technology waiting for America to adopt it: No Furnaces but Heat Aplenty in ‘Passive Houses’. Who needs a furnace when the average home is already full of heat? All you need to do is keep it from getting out - and you don't have to spend that much more up front or give up fresh air.
Enjoy!
