I rember the outrage over the nipple. Yup, the nipple shown at the halftime show for the Superbowl. Oh my gawd, a nipple. It flashed so fast, if you did not have Tivo (R.I.P. Tivo) You missed it. The FCC was all over the nipple incident.
(Evans landed multiple shots and a flailing Griffin was unable to defend himself. Evans landed a hard right which dazed Griffin then continued to connect with punches and the fight was stopped at 2:46 of the third round.)
This is one short paragraph describing how one Mixed Martial Art's fight ended. I am a sports fan. I like all kinds of sports. I understand how a baseball player could die if a pitch were to land on the side of the batters head. I understand how a football player could lose his ability to walk again with one bad hit.
I understand why Mohammad Ali (Cassius Clay) shakes and can barley get his words out. There will always be risk with sports, and in some cases people will get hurt, and damaged for life, and possibly die. But,
I also understand why pit bull fighting is cruel beyond words. The two pit bulls are put in a ring to try to kill or wound each other until only one is left standing or alive. MMA is legal pit bull fighting.
I have watched Mixed Martial Art's fighting. It's one notch below pit bull fighting. I can't believe the FCC is allowing this to be broadcast on the tee vee machine. Pay per view or not, basic cable, or pay cable how ever you want to spin it, it's on the tee vee machine, and I can't figure out how it got there.
My guess is no one from the FCC has actually ever seen what they have allowed. I can't figure out how showing a nipple caused such an uproar, but viewing manslaughter live on the tee vee is ok?
Of course I have written letters to the FCC, asking each person I could contact, if they had actually ever watched a MMA (Mixed Martial Fight) broadcast. Not one officer from the FCC has ever written me back.
I think having MMA on the tee vee machine is a huge error for our country. It should end.
You don't need to actually watch a pit bull fight to understand why that is illegal, but it might be a good thing to actually watch a MMA fight to see what I am talking about. Its pretty bad. Hey, you can even rent past MMA fights at blockbuster. The same people who like to remove the scenes that show a nipple from their rentals think this stuff is just fine for rental.
I don't have kids so it's not one of those "Just don't let your kid's view it" kind of issues. One could argue the benefits of Heroine if they wanted, it just would not make any scense to me. It's not one of those "If you don't like it don't watch it" It's more of a "What are we as people allowing to be considered a normal part of our lives"
Hello, FCC , Are you there?
I know this isn't the type of stuff usually read about on DK, but hey, this diary will evaporate within 2 hours anyway.
