As the New Year approaches, we reflect on the past hoping to draw forth lessons learned for our own benefit. This process usually brings forth the advice given to me as a youngster which I always hated to hear, but that I now understand survives the test of time because of the truths they hold. Enjoy.
Don't criticize others when you are angry with yourself.
Your eyes are the windows to your soul.
You can never accomplish great things if you cannot tolerate small ills.
Being a child is harder than we remember.
Grab happiness when you can.
Converse to please others ... not yourself.
Live harmoniously with your beliefs and ideals.
Be true to yourself.
Education is the most important aspect of our society.
Time is more important to people who do things.
Hang on longer than the competition.
Do not become what you cannot stand.
Never hate the truth.
Believe in the goodness of people.
Loving and giving make life worth living.
Envy and fear are the main causes of hatred.
You can't lose what you never had.
Never put off saying, "I love you."
Know when it's time to leave.
Love your children for who they are, not what you want them to be.
Hatred can destroy your soul.
Never underestimate the power of a woman!
Do not take pleasure from other peoples' pain.
Wisdom is knowing what to ignore.
Kisses are meant to be returned.
Don't expect different results from the same behavior.
Use your life to create something that will outlast it.
