Obama Leads McCain in Colorado, Hillary Trails

Wed Feb 13, 2008 at 03:53:48 PM PDT

Rasmussen says it all with a new poll today:

The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey shows that Barack Obama (D) currently holds a seven-point advantage over John McCain (R), 46% to 39%. However, if the Democrats nominate Hillary Clinton, McCain will begin the race with a fourteen point advantage, 49% to 35%. National polling,  updated daily, currently shows the same general trend with Obama currently performing better than Clinton in match-ups with McCain.

There's a reason many "fly over" states have gone with Obama over Clinton.  And this poll confirms it.

Think of the down ticket races in these states!

We've got a very competitive open Senate seat in Colorado.  Obama on top of the ticket is obviously helpful.  Clinton, not so much.

And let's not forget all the state House and state Senate seats that a wave of new and cross-over Obama voters could do for Democrats in Colorado and other traditionally red or purple states.

Oh, and I don't know if you've seen SoapBlox now offers FREE SoapBlox Lites to people.  I just started a new one last night that is looking for some "Obamaphiles" to take over :).

Anyway, back on topic.  Chuck Todd says the Super Delegates can all read polls.  Well, if they are literate, I think they should be reading this Colorado poll.

As John Cole of Balloon Juice calls him: "the magical unity pony".

To that, I retort with Obama's line "cynicism is but false wisdom!"

  •  This is the main reason why (5+ / 0-)

electability argument is a major card in favor of Obama.  Even where he loses, he is not radioactive, giving our down ballot races in red states a chance.

Obama won't win Idaho, but he may well break 40% there and give the Dems a shot to oust Sali, and give LaRocco a shot to win the seat.

In Mississippi, the Senate seat that we could have written off with Clinton as the nominee, now becomes a serious pickup possibility with Obama turning out blacks and youth (63% for Kerry) in gigantic numbers.

In Wyoming, Gary Trauner is no longer running away from Hillary Clinton, but running with Barack Obama.  Obama won't win Wyoming, but Trauner doesn't need to run away.

In Alaska, which Obama may have an outside chance to even take, Mark Begich and Ethan Berkowitz will get a boost with Obama.

In Kansas, Nancy Boyda can afford to campaign with Obama, while she would have to run far far away from Clinton.

    etc.

John McCain's Something for Everyone Plan: Military draft for youth, SS benefit cuts for elderly, Middle Class destruction, stock market plunge for wealthy.

I looked (not too hard) and didn't see anything.  Looking at the tags, there is just one other with Colorado and this poll.

      Oh well!

I'm just happy as pie as a Coloradan to be AHEAD!

Considering how much they LOVe McCain there, that says something.

Obama is an engine, Clinton is an anchor.

  •  Conforms to my experience (0+ / 0-)

here in Littleton, South Denver Metro, Arapahoe County, Tancredo country.  Lots of disgust with Bush, curiosity about Obama, but widespread visceral hatred of Hillary.  I'll support her if she gets the nomination, but I think it will turn CO cherry red.
