Remember when most Republicans had to side-step or hide their support for anti-choice measures? Now they blatantly tout the fact. Bush, Inc. must believe their email list is staunchly conservative(see below). "No room for moderates in this here party."
So, how do we court moderates being pushed out of this party? How do we show them that the things that concerned them are not apart of where "we" are taking our party. I realize it will likely not happen, but I sure hope someone is taking the message to them, that we welcome them as we work to unite our country. These people are somewhat socially liberal and they need to realize, they have a voice in our party. Let's show the country that our "discussion and debate" is how we make sure all interests are represented.
Today, the president signed into law the Unborn Victims of Violence Act also known as Laci and Conner's Law. In addition to the Born Alive Infants Act and the Partial-birth Abortion Ban, this was the third major piece of pro-life legislation that President Bush has signed into law.
As the president stated today during a White House bill signing, "The Unborn Victims of Violence Act provides that, under federal law, any person who causes death or injury to a child in the womb shall be charged with a separate offense, in addition to any charges relating to the mother."
"As of today, the law of our nation will acknowledge the plain fact that crimes of violence against a pregnant woman often have two victims. And therefore, in those cases, there are two offenses to be punished. Under this law, those who direct violence toward a pregnant woman will answer for the full extent of the harm they have done, and for all the crimes they have committed."
