Daily Kos

This McCain story, is the re-thugs best hope! Unite the right!

Thu Feb 21, 2008 at 09:44:29 AM PDT

I don't know if this has already been commented on, or already touched upon on another diary, if so, I apologize in advance, I have not read the site in a while...but this is the BEST thing that could happen to the re-thug-licans!!  THIS WILL BE WHAT IT TAKES TO UNITE THEM AGAINST THE DEMS!

Like a lot of Hillary supporters,  I have been avoiding Daily Kos in recent days.  Face it folks, us Hillary supporters have had a really hard few weeks! ouch!  waaaa waaaaa, you Obama people are such blue meanies to us!  ; )

This whole McCain shabang however, reminds me of a diary I posted a couple weeks ago, about how although I am a hardcore Hillary supporter, I went to bat for Obama, when I got one of the Muslim e-mail hit jobs against him. Even as a Hillary supporter, the minute I started hearing about attacks towards Barack, I not only defended him, it changed my whole gut feeling for him!  I was ready to fight for the enemy! (enemy in the primary wars)

This is exactly what is happening now, with McCain.

All these right wing nut job Lush Rumballs, Insannitys, etc etc.....will now leap to McCains defense, declaring this whole thing a part of the good ole "vast left wing conspiracy"   ; )

All those fundie nut jobs that had their doubts about McCain, are now gonna jump into his leaky rowboat, and start applyin' chewin gum to all the holes. You watch!

While the whole blog-0-sphere-a-roni goes ape-poo poo declaring McCain in trouble...

Someone, in a very Karl Rovish way, at the RNC is sittin back, and grinning.

Then chuckling.

And planning the next "operation keep the white house operation"

And we are taking this whole line of bullshit, hook, line and sinker!

    hopefully hurt him with indies.

I honor that service, and I respect [McCain's] many accomplishments, even if he chooses to deny mine. Obama 6/3/08

  •  You're thinking WAY too hard. (5+ / 0-)

The right? Who's on the right? The Evangelicals and this is not getting them out to vote. The rest of the right... they were coming around anyway, because to them its about taxes. This story is this story, but he's not going to win this election running against the media. Not with BO as his opponent.

We will see heading towards the General!

Although I will fully support Obama, I really think alot of folks here at DK are in la la land, thinking he is gonna skate into the white house...

It's gonna be a long, dirty, messy war.

The right ain't gonna give up without trying every dirty trick in the Rove playbook!

        And what?

Of course they are going to attack him, but that's not what your diary is about. It's about McCain and the right and whether this will help him and I'm saying it won't because he can't run an anti media campaign (which you're saying is what he'll do to unite) and beat Barack, who will simply ignore McCain in favor of his own message.

Barack will simply say, "Oy, do we really need more years of squabbling over old scandals. No, we don't. And... yes, we can."

hasn't voted yet. I agree, it will be another close election NINE MONTHS FROM NOW, after NINE MONTHS of incessant bullshit.

It makes one wonder if each election season is just going to start earlier and earlier? I am tired of donating to campaigns (already).  What am I a friggin bank?

      •  And a few that aren't yet in Roves playbook. (0+ / 0-)

Bush controls the elections.  What part of that do you not understand? Bush's Justice Dept. controls the elctions. Already we are hearing stories coming out of the Primarys. Votes missing here and votes missing there, vote changes, etc. We had better ask the Dem. candidates if they will challange this election if they loose.

This may be a story that quickly dies, in which case you are correct and the Rightwing noise machine rallies around McCain for a while.

Or it may be the first major crack in a dam that gives us a lot more of the story in the weeks to come.

Let's allow a week or so for follow-up before we jump to hard conclusions. In the meantime, hey, thank God it's not about Obama!

It proves that we have all become so cynical in this culture that we automatically assume the MSM has some hidden agenda and are automatic to read conspiracy theories into something that is either

    a) the tip of the iceberg

    b) idle gossip

That is the legacy of Watergate.  We surely don't give anyone in power the benefit of the doubt anymore, do we?

Anybody who thought the Right wouldn't rally behind McCain was/is delusional.

It's quite amazing watching the right's machine ramp up the last few weeks.

They will defend McCain and set out destroy the Democratic nominee by any means possible.

We see it already as they switch from tapering off their 15 years of attacks on Hillary onto Obama.

I am getting flash backs of 2004...

    Fasten your seat belts.

    •  I'm not so sure.... (0+ / 0-)

Even though I'm a Hillary supporter, I fully admit and agree Obama draws a much wider support at this stage.

I have some real right wing nut job family members and friends that despise Hillary, but don't seem to mind Obama....

A story like this, jerks the Obama leaning righty's, back to earth, to RALLY FOR MCCAIN!

      Yikes!

      •  They are few in number (0+ / 0-)

I liked your comment above BTW but the RW crazies are fewer in number than people realize.

Faux news and talk radio promoted giuliani for months.  Giuliani got 1 delegate and spent 50 million.

Then they all rallied behind Mittens.  And Mittens collapsed.

Hannity and his ilk are so repulsive that they turn republicans into independents and independents into democrats.

we're liberals, we're snakes, we are to be defeated.  Well, I say to him, we will unite against you and defeat YOU!  Guys, this is a rallying cry to all of us, don't give them an inch, don't give them a break.  THEY need to be defeated.  We must ALL stick together, remember who the real enemy is and be as relentless toward them as they have been toward us.

  •  So? (0+ / 0-)

Ummm - run and hide!?  Because this might be a Republican trick to lure us into their trap of liking our candidate (whomever he or she will be).  But what if the trap is a trap to trick us into thinking that they know what we think they know but really they know something more but aren't telling us.  Then when we don't suspect it they will use that knowledge to sneak up on us and spring into action.  Then we'll know.  Unless we ignore it all and then we won't know which is exactly what they want us to do.  Or is that "exactly what we want us to do"?  Crap what if we are the ones trying to trick ourselves?  OMG!!! That's it!  We want us to think that McCain is vulnerable so that we think that they think he is invulnerable and in the meantime he isn't and then POW!  Ron Paul.

Someone needs to warn us to tell someone something before something is pulled over our eyes.

    Thanks.

Hannity, Limbaugh and their ilk all get the same marching orders.

They've been told to make the transition over to McCain and they will follow in lockstep even though many of their listeners will ignore them.

Do you wonder why all these media outlets say the SAME THINGS on the same days?

They get talking points from the RNC.  RW talk radio is a coordinated propaganda outlet, not a bastion of free and independent thought.
