If I Ran the Obama Campaign

Sat Feb 23, 2008 at 08:31:16 PM PDT

Let me just remind everybody here that not only have I never ran a successful political campaign, I also have a tendency to eat the chocolate before I run out of milk, just to be safe.

More above the fold.

Um, below the fold.

I hope you're ready for this.

Now, I know what some of you are going to say, but I'm serious.

I think this would really work.

And yes, I know everybody likes to make Obama "safe" and not "cool," but I don't care.

This is what my world is like all the time.

YOU try living in it.

    Shaft!

I don't know what it is, but I've been listening to lots of 60's soul/Motown lately - Stax records stuff.  Obama's rise I think has got me into it.

So I say yeah, keep struttin down the street.  WTF not?

It's very cute. I like it. But, probably not best from the official campaign. Sort of like Obama Girl. :)

...as an "underground" YouTube video.  But to make it really kick a**, you need to do the following:

    1. speed up the text intro at the beginning.  Shit, my three year old can read faster than that, and if you spend 30 seconds on what is, frankly, pretty boring text you're going to lose a lot of viewers to their browser's "back" buttons.
    1. Get somebody to cover the song, because a) you don't want to be worried about copyright problems, and b) you need to tweak the words to use Obama's actual name in the lyrics, and campy takes on Obama's credentials/record in place of Shaft's fictional creds in the original song.

You dig?  Now shut yo' mouth.  :)

we would have lost the race in March, 2007. :-)

When liberals saw 9-11, we wondered how we could make the country safe. When conservatives saw 9-11, they saw an investment opportunity.

  •  nice job! (0+ / 0-)

Shaft was big (and I am dating myself here) when I was in junior high.

If I remember correctly, Shaft was a PI who was hired to rescue the daughter of a Black Mob boss; she had been kidnapped and held by the Mafia.

I doubt that Michelle would but up with Obama engaging in the same, ahem, "antics" that Shaft did (that is left for McCain to do... :-) )

  •  I don't know, I'm crazy (0+ / 0-)

I just wish we really could go all "Soul Brother #1 gonna put his foot up the man's ass for all us little people" this time around.

    I'm funny that way.

I back Obama for his ideas, and his worthiness, but I am so damn sick of the old school of uptight white stupid idiots...

Here's been my thing.  When people have said "I don't think a woman can handle running the country," or "America's not ready for a Black President," I always want to say, "well we already elected a brain-damaged President, so I figure we've pretty much broken all the barriers, right?"

    But that's just me.

  •  Heart and SOUL (0+ / 0-)

I would love to see a President with Heart and Soul.

    So, yes.

  •  Obama is cool! (0+ / 0-)

Yeah.. he's got soul.. and is asking us to have soul too.

  •  This is still the best video (0+ / 0-)

    Even though it's old.
