I am going to suggest something unusual but then again I have never been known for the norm. I might end up running for Congress in the 3rd Congressional District in Arkansas. But I need your help if I am to do this in the first place.
In 2005 and into 2006, I mounted a bid for Lt. Governor. In my campaign I talked about an Education Lottery, the need to abolish the Death Penalty, the need to pass Meghan's Law to protect against predators; Raise the Minimum Wage, and the need to pass a comprehensive Collective Bargaining legislation to reverse the effects of Right to Work in our state. In the end, I didn't file, because I had mainly self-filed. I swore then, I would not make another major race, unless I had adequate funds to compete. Recently, my brother considered a bid. But my brother is in Iraq and conceivably it could be June before he's home. While he hasn't made a firm decision one way or the other, I believe he may not run.
I believe we need to be out of Iraq. I believe we need to move to an alternative fuel-based economy in the next decade. Most of all, I believe we should allow workers to organize and have collective bargaining. So if my brother doesn't run, I may run, but here's the thing. I have to raise $8K between now and March 10th to qualify to have my name on the ballot.
I won't run if I can't raise the money.
But I believe the 3rd District is worth fighting for and if no other Democrat is willing to step up to the fight, then I will.
You know, I am 32 yrs. old. Yet I have already had to endure people making issue out of the fact when I was much younger and stupid, that I bounced some checks. They refuse to mention I worked and paid them off and it was checks I wrote for food and shelter. I am not justifying but also saying there are two sides to every story.
Also, in my life, I face ridicule by a few individuals. Google, "DREW PRITT" sometime and see the trash written about me at a site called Encylopedia Dramatica or a site called Our Campaigns. These people don't know me but they write gossip and lies and speak it like it's truth. The Nazis could have taken lessons from them. They have no remorse.
So why subject myself to this and more? Why go asking for dollars so I can even run?
Is it right that we are still in Iraq and young men & women die everyday?
Is it right that the millionaires and billionaires and corporate interests don't pay their fair share of taxes?
Is it right that as our passenger rail system is declining more appropriations are spent for defense?
Is it right that the GLBT Community are treated as second class citizens and votes in Congress continue to maintain that status quo?
John Boozman III says YES and I, Drew Pritt, say NO!
The people of the Third Congressional District of Arkansas are worth fighting for and not giving up on.
John Boozman III has voted against the people of the 3rd District too many times. The Third District deserves a fighter and since no other Democrat is stepping up, I am willing to step up and run myself, but I need your help. It will cost $8,000 to put my name on the ballot. Thats a lot to ask but I need each of you to donate so I can run. There may be some confusion about donations, so I am asking that you limit your donation to $2,000 per election, which means $2,000 for the primary and $2,000 for the General Election.
I believe we need to be out of Iraq. I believe we need to move to an alternative fuel-based economy in the next decade. Most of all, I believe we should allow workers to organize and have collective bargaining.
I won't run if I can't raise the money. Will you be willing to make an investment and send it this week to :
