Daily Kos

Enough Already!

Mon Feb 25, 2008 at 09:51:38 AM PDT

Like many of you reading this, I've been coming to Daily Kos since its early days to read and discuss important political issues with my fellow progressives. The discussions haven't always been harmonious. Several prominent Kos 'front pagers' burned brightly for a while, then flamed out and abandoned this site.
But, for the most part, Daily Kos remained a community of like-minded progressive thinkers and writers.

Most progressives are passionate about their political views. And many have gotten angry and bitter over what happened to our beloved country after the 2000 election. The atrocities of Bush and the neocons has been well chronicled here over the past seven years.

In 2002 we all (well at least most of us) looked hopefully ahead to the 2004 election for the defeat of the Bush administration. When that didn't happen we held our hope forward to the 2006 mid-terms. We had some success finally and we celebrated it together.

Then last summer or so each of us chose our candidate and pushed ahead with her or him through the pre-primary phase of this next presidential election. I think that the vast majority of our Kos community knew that this time would be our time to participate in the election of a new president who will restore America to the greatness we hold in our hearts.

But since the primaries began and the slate of Democratic candidates got whittled down to two, something ferocious and ugly rose from beneath the surface. I've felt it swell up in me too, and I hate having those feelings. The diaries and comments got exponentially more nasty and bitter here with no end in sight.

I'm hoping for that nastiness and bitterness to return to the hell from which it came. Soon. I hope. Must hope. Stop it, already! (me included)

Sheesh, I can't wait for baseball season to begin. And I'm a Cubs fan.

    today?

If I have to call "enough" on the "enough" stuff, then someone's going to get lathered up and call "enough" on the "enough about the enough!" stuff.

Then people would get all confused, and heads would explode, and we all would quite literally have exploded heads on our hands! Do you want that? (OK, maybe the exploded heads would literally be on our hands, but still: yucky mess.)

Have you also noticed that the word "enough" looks really weird when you type it a lot?

    I rest my case.

More than an hour can be spent digesting Renewable Energy a diary on harnessing the power of the ocean and tides.  More than a half an hour can be spent reflecting in the IGTNT diaries.  Do most people here seek these diaries out?  No, judging from the recommenders and lifespan of these diaries.

Yes, I read the candidate diaries, but I have to say, there is more to this site than vitriol -- so I would recommend that folks do some other reading.
