    I'm not trying to be abrasive or to convince you to vote one way or the other.  However, I find it slightly unsettling that you would let blog posters/commenters determine you who cast a ballot for to potentially lead this great country.

    I know who I like and people (in the real world) know that I'm very abreast of political happenings.  I rarely discuss who I am voting for or what side of the aisle that person may be on.

    In that same breadth I try my hardest to encourage people to vote.  Period.  Not to vote for Clinton or Obama or Romney or any candidate in particular.  I encourage them to go out and VOTE so their voice can  be heard, so they can exercise the right given to them in the constitution.  I spend a great deal surrounded by young apathetic college students.  Most of the time its obvious they just vote for who their parents tell them to or talk about enough to make them vote that way as well.  Regardless of who they like I always say "Thats great that you're voting, you should talk to your friends and get them to vote too."

    Vote for the candidate that speaks to you and that you feel will do something about the issues important to you.  Don't vote for someone just to spite a dKos poster because we both know thats just silly.  There's assholes everywhere and there always will be.

      Blind obedience and worship are a lousy reason for anyone to be President.  We've had eight years of it, and I'm sick of it.

        Obama supporters on the whole are any less well informed than Clinton supporters?

        In fact, there's ample evidence that Clinton supporter demographics correlate well to low-information voter demographics.

        Are you making a faulty generalization from example and ignoring the counterexamples through confirmation bias?

        I'm not accusing, but consider the possibility.

        I agree that blind obedience and worship are not reasons to elect ANY official.  Is that what we're seeing here?  What's the difference between blind obedience and passionate belief?  In fact, I think its good for Democrats--good for Americans that people are becoming so passionate about electing a president again.

        Regarding the last eight years of blind obedience--Most people were kept in blind obedience for one of three reasons MONEY (tax cuts), FEAR (9/11), or RELIGION (evangelicals).

        People are getting excited about Obama (in my opinion) because his ideas are  a breath of fresh air to the stale politics of the last couple of decades.  People see a legitimate chance for change.

        Alas, I'm getting ahead of myself.  I don't want to sway you one way or the other.    My only wish is to sway you into looking directly to the candidates.  Listen to their speeches, debates, interviews.  How does that contrast with what they've said or acted in the past? (i.e. McCain - Feingold bill that McCain is choosing to ignore now).

        You're an American citizen. Do your homework.  Don't copy it from a "lemming" on ANY website.  Once you find your candidate, fight like hell to get them elected.

  ...the Flag Lapel flap being a prime example of the sort of crap that will be thrown against the wall over the next week, to see if anything sticks against Obama.  Unfortunately, there is always the potential for another apparent verbal slip like Michelle Obama's [I say "apparent" because the possible appearance of a misstatement is all that's needed to cause a major MSM and talking-head-sphere distraction, not an actual substantive misstatement].

  This next week cannot go by quickly enough for me, until next Tuesday evening and the votes are counted.  Until then, trend lines are good, but the votes are NOT in the bank just yet.
