Matt Drudge hates British troops too!

Fri Feb 29, 2008 at 08:35:16 AM PDT

It is widely being reported that Prince Harry is being pulled from Afghanistan amid concerns about security after Drudge posted news stories about his whereabouts in Afghanistan.

We all know that he would be a likely target of attacks, if his whereabouts were known, so many in the British and foreign press had voluntarily engaged in a press blackout. In addition, the Ministry of Defense knew that identifiying Prince Harry's whereabouts would not only expose the Prince himself to attacks, but also endanger the soldiers he was stationed with. Did the safety of British troops in Afghanistan matter to Matt Drudge? Of course not. Once again a Right-wing journalists is exposed for his disdain for the safety of the troops.  This time, the safety of our allies.

Sadly, Prince Harry, was one of the few elite children to actually put his life on the line in support of his country.  You certainly won't get that kind of commitment from any children of Republican leaders.  Their fathers were busy dodging the draft when they had the opportunity to serve their country.

If drudge gave a damn about our troops or anyone else's, the desire to protect those troops would have overridden any desire to publish their whereabouts.  Of course, for all Drudge's vaunted claims to journalistic integrity, he continues to prove he's nothing more than a hack journalist more interested in his own self-aggrandizement then ensuring anyone's  safety.  He and Bush must have been separated at birth.

  •  Maybe Drudge should be prosecuted (3+ / 0-)

That was clearly a matter of national security. If he published where Bush was in Iraq (keep in mind, no one ever know where he lands, every place he goes, and where he leaves) the secret service would be so far in his business.

All the Prince wanted was to serve his country, and Drudge just has to ruin it.

  •  Drudge didnt breake the story folks (0+ / 0-)

It was reported on a few weeks earlier be a magazine,
No body noticed of cared, at the time,

Sorry I forget the name of the mag, but this is info I got from Olbermin last night

Noblesse oblige (literally, nobility obligates): the moral obligation of those of high birth, powerful social position, etc., to act with honor, kindliness, generosity, etc.

European royalty have historically felt so strongly about this that it used to be normal for kings to lead their troops into battle.  Hell, Frederick the Great lost so many of his friends in his wars that he died a lonely death.

When Peter the Great wanted military experience, how did he learn?  He signed on as an ordinary grunt.  That was how he learned about soldiering.

Even the Queen wore a uniform during WWII--she got her hands dirty working as an ordinary mechanic.

Prince Harry wanted to be ordinary, too, for a little while.  He only wanted to serve his country.  Then Drudge's blog ruined everything.

The Brits are notorious for crap journalism, but they protect their troops.

Drudge made a huge mistake, by releasing that and then hiding behind the sham, that somebody else did it first.....I was just repeating it.

    That's not gonna fly.

Drudge should be held liable if one of those troops are harmed, now and in the future.

He may want to look over his shoulder from now on.
The Brits are going to hold the entire US press accountable.

The UK government need only kick out Drudge's most favored news sources.
That being Fox, and then go after SkyNews, the UK Fox, for being the jerks they are.

Drudge now has a target on his back....in the form of a Union Jack.
