Best Political Ad Ever

This past week, we here in New York received some great news. We are one step closer to holding the majority in the NYS Senate for the first time in a century.

This is huge news...and the main reason I ran for office in 2006 was to realize this dream and turn that State Senate blue.

There were many reasons for the win...many of them outlined at The Albany Project, but one of them was due to the incredible television ads produced by the fine people at a-political...the same folks who did last year's Eliot Spitzer's spots.

But there was one particular spot that stood out and I believe is the best political campaign commercial I've ever seen.

It was made for a really fine candidate, Darrel Aubertine, who ended up winning and he has become the first Democrat to hold this seat since 1880.

Pretty impressive.

I'd like to know what you think. Can this kind of spot be used elsewhere?

Tell me this isn't just a flat out home run of an ad.

        there are other great candidates out there too: some who need help with their reelection campaigns and others who are trying for their first win. It would be nice to really shake up the state this year (since we'll already be shaking up the country)

      we're in the process of putting together a blue majority-like NY actblue page with the participation of other NY blogs right now, especially now that we can use actblue for state level candidates here in the empire state.

      bouldin (MBNYC) has already made a rather kick ass graphic for it...

  Long Island Dems...heed the call...the Long Island Nine (GOP block) became the LI 8 after a special election last year...time to shake things up around here...

  Send it to Obama's campaign! Please. They could do something similar (heaven forbid no plagiarism)  Thats how I feel about this campaign.  Almost like I'm running too.  My mind is on this all the time. Because I believe I'm so invested in this election. $ and soul.

  I know it was more than the ad, but the ad was huge. They are very hopeful over there in NY-21, also a Republican stronghold for centuries... in no small measure because of what happened to Darrel.
