Don't Talk to Me about God II

Actually, I'm able to talk about God fine; I've got no problem with religion or the religious 99% of the time: but this makes me so angry I can't see straight.

The background is four customers and a store manager killed in suburban Chicago:

CHICAGO -- The Westboro Baptist Church -- known for its frequent protests of soldiers' funerals -- plans to picket at the funerals of two victims of the Lane Bryant shootings, according to a report on WBBM's Web site.

The church's Web site lists the upcoming protests at the funerals for Sarah Szafranski, 22, and Connie Woolfolk, 37. Both were among five women gunned down Saturday at a Lane Bryant clothing store in Tinley Park.

NBC5's Phil Rogers said he spoke to the church, based in Kansas, on Thursday. A spokesman said the group would demonstrate on Saturday because all high-profile tragedies proved God was sending his wrath onto America for its tacit support of gay rights.  

The church also planned to protest at the funerals of the victims of this week's tornadoes in the South

The other report is this: that the westboro church thinks that transvestites and transexuals shop at Lane Bryant, and therefore its going to the funerals of customers shot at the store in order to show the families that God punished this women for shopping at a place that also sells to sinners.

  Boy is he in for a suprise. If there is a hell, where Fred would surely end up, I'll bet there will be some very suitable punishments in store for him.

  of the troups.  I wonder if its just a group of 17 people who like to get in the news and have decided together that their lives are so worthless that they have lost all their humanity.

  I don't think this represents anything can can be construed as an argument against religion.  People like this can take JD Salinger and make it evil.

  Really this is sad.

  Don't talk to me about God I had a bit more of a compelling case to talk about God.  But this is disgusting.

    ...while I appreciate the sentiment, and agree with it....

    Pretty much the entire Phelps clan are lawyers.  (Phelps himself got disbarred a few years ago for running basically a legal extortion racket.)  One of their goals is to provoke people into attacking them.  They get to sue.

    It's how they fund their little crusade.

  Whack jobs this out of whack are whack jobs because way deep down they are whack jobs.  People this badly miswired are miswired.  No matter what users' manual for life they stumble upon, they will take it out of whack straight into hate.

  What I'm getting at is this band of inbred mutants has notig to do with religion.  If they found a ketchup packet they'd translate monosodium glutemate as "Kill the tomato pickers".
