BushWorld is Crumbling from Lack of Inner Truth

Who will Inherit the Bush Recession?
"close ties may exist also among thieves"

"Close ties may exist also among thieves...but since it is not invincible, it does not bring good fortune... Where the community of interest ceases, the holding together ceases also, and the closest friendship often changes into hate. Only when the bond is based on what is right, on steadfastness, will it remain so firm that it triumphs over everything." - "Book of Changes"

In 2004, I wrote the following column:

Wealth & Inner Truth
Keys to Good Government
by HyperLincoln
http://hyperlincoln.blogspot.com/...

In the column, I explain why and how BushWorld was going to fall apart. It has everything to do with a lack of inner truth, and how thieves eventually turn on one another.

Well, Bush and Congress are at an all-time low, and Rush Limbaugh is pulling for Hillary Clinton. Everywhere you see one or more of the colluders in corruption, you see and hear anger, back-stabbing, desperate attempts at thinking, reaction against reaction against reaction. Perhaps Robert Fripp was correct, when he said: "Let the Power fall."

MORE BELOW...

As Democrats begin doing the heavy uplifting of our country and world out of the Hell created by the reality-hating and vision-hating drydrunk gamblers in Washington, we need to be firm on finding all the truth, all the reality, so that we can know from whence to launch the bold visions necessary for pulling this backward-running tractor out of the hogwaste lagoon of Bush's muddled mindprint.

What follows is the text from the original column.
It still has relevancy, if not more:

So often, when people actually take the trouble to understand and evolve a better government, they look to either the Democratic or Republican playbooks. But the answer is not there to be found. And if it were found, the other team would more than likely reject it, just because it was a product of the other team. This is one reason why HyperLincoln looks beyond time and space, and draws wisdom from distant places and times. Not just today's Democrats or today's Republicans. And we certainly are not going to rely of today's American media to provide us with any clues. They ain't got one.

There are many problems to tackle, but today we want to concentrate on but a few: Wealth, management, Truth, and harmonious social relations. We will be drawing inspiration from the ancient Chinese.

Chung Fu (Inner Truth) "Such conditions create the basis of a mutual confidence that makes achievement possible..."

ABOVE: Gentleness, forebearance toward inferiors.
BELOW: Joyousness in obeying superiors

"In ancient China, the entire administration of justice was guided by this principle. A deep understanding that knows how to pardon was considered the highest form of justice."

Is this the way we live our lives? Is this the way our government, and its citizens behave? I suggest that this is not the case. Instead we have...

ABOVE: Heavy-handedness, disdain or disregard for inferiors.
BELOW: Regret and possible death in obeying orders.

This needs to change. And for it to change may well take a change of administration, since the current administration has been...misadministering. Chaos and Confusion have been the reigning forces in the Bush Administration...from the many confusing types of "chad" to confusing recounts, and on through the Iraq War, and all the confusing information and misinformation that has permeated the entire affair.

Compare the Bushian "Chaos & Confusion" with what is said about the superior system of justice that reigned in ancient China...

"It's aim was to maintain so strong a moral impression that there was no reason to fear abuse of such mildness. For it sprang not from weakness, but from a superior clarity."

SUPERIOR CLARITY

During the run up to the 2000 election, President Clinton was asked if he had any advice for the Democrats. He did, and it was this: "Seek clarity".
I challenge Bush to tell Republicans and Conservatives to do the same...for to do so would spell doom for the
administration and the Party. And why? Because they have things to hide. Many things. Maybe even most things.
And yet our dear ancient scribe of Chung Fu tells us of what is to become of such secrecy and tight-lipped "small rafting"...

"If a man should try to cultivate secret relationships of a special sort, it would deprive him of his inner independence. The more reliance he places on the support of others, the more uneasy and anxious he will become as to whether these secret relationships are really tenable. In this way inner peace and inner truth are lost."

Uneasy? Anxious? Is this why Cheney lashes out? Is this why Rush Limbaugh and others on the Rabid Right are spitting nails?

Again...

"Close ties may exist also among thieves...but since it is not invincible, it does not bring good fortune... Where the community of interest ceases, the holding together ceases also, and the closest friendship often changes into hate. Only when the bond is based on what is right, on steadfastness, will it remain so firm that it triumphs over everything."

So it is just a matter of time before these secretives implode from the weight of the lies and secrets they have to
maintain and justify. Let us hope that the Kerry/Edwards administration learn these valuable, timely, and timeless lessons. If America can administer justice wisely, gently and with clarity...we may be able to regain our place as moral leaders in this world. If not, we may well deserve to hand it over to our betters.

I have this horrible nightmare of a black-dressed Cheney robot with a rifle stalking me now.  Thanks.

I want to take issue with this...

    ABOVE: Gentleness, forebearance toward inferiors.
    BELOW: Joyousness in obeying superiors

I don't believe there are "inferiors".  Ancient China is not a model of altruistic love and happiness.

In any case, just swapping Presidents, no matter how good a President we get, will not fix this country's issues.  We have structural and political problems that one person cannot solve.  The root causes that brought us Reagan, Nixon, Bush, Bill Clinton are still going to be there.

In the column, I explain why and how BushWorld was going to fall apart. It has everything to do with a lack of inner truth, and how thieves eventually turn on one another.

It isn't, in the end, Bushworld, that is crumbling.  The whole setup has innate problems that have finally become manifest.  Fix the underlying problems or the next Bush will be worse.

...and workable forms of governance scattered throughout the history of human civilization.  The cockroach in the cheese dip has always been that nasty and nebulous factor of human nature.
Since the time of Ur, in Mesopotamia, to today, some realities of governance have prevailed.
Governance, by definition, is comprized of the governors and the governed.
Governors will always seek to increase and maintain their control.
The governed will always seek more freedom from the governors.
The governed always out numbers the governors.
The only way the governors survive is by having the monopoly of power.
Simplistic as that is, it is the pattern that must be broken if civilization is to advance (or survive).
How do we get there? Beats the crap outa me.

    •  Round the Mountain (0+ / 0-)

Here'...I'll take a stab at answering your question.
Again, it comes from old China, and the principle is this: If a mountain stands tall and alone in a prairie, it will not last long in it's current state. A billionaire will not last long in a ghetto of poverty.

To round the mountain, one needs to give as one gets, so that no one person is ludicrously better off than everyone else around him, rather all are doing pretty well. And because most are doing rather well, and because of the attitude of the sources, so to say, there becomes a wide protective band of synergizing hominids each caring for the welfare of the other, rather than only themselves, as seems the case today.

      Stuff like that.

      Thanks for the excellent comment!
