I Singlehandedly Solve the Writer's Strike

Sat Mar 15, 2008 at 03:56:14 PM PDT

Sometimes I write some pretty good diaries.  This isn't one of those times.

I have come up with the ultimate diary, and the ultimate way to make peace with the peaceful, and war with the warlike.

This is just my way to share some music with the Kosophonic Symphony Orchestra, recorded in Democratic Stereo, with full Clintonian Obamamania.

A sentence is a paragraph, if you make it long enough.

So I was just sucking you in about that writer's strike thing.  I don't even really get what that is.  I fooled you!  Aren't I clever?  You can hate me because I'm beautiful, but you can't beautify me because I'm hateful.

My great grandpappy used to say that, right up until the moment they shot him in cold blood.

  •  Well, the "real" writer's strike (1+ / 0-)

    voila

affected me not at all.  No television, you see.  So while I sympathized with the strikers, it had no impact on my life.

It did make me feel sorry for everyone still addicted to the tube, or plasma screen, or whatever.  Kind of like I feel sorry for everyone still addicted to tobacco.

I have no cable, no TIVO and the kids get up early and I can't afford to stay up and watch shows.

I'm seriously thinking about NOT getting a converter box.

But I still have my comic books.  Who needs TV when I can reread Transmetropolitan and Spider can rant about the evils of media, religion and popular culture!

the strike delayed the Watchmen movie. and that movie's been delayed long enough.

not that it'll be anywhere as good as the book, but it'll be good enough imo.

          •  For a Watchmen series, done on Sci Fi (0+ / 0-)

the way it really should be, I'd get cable!

But to squeeze a 12 part miniseries, heavy with symbolism and multiple layers of meaning into a less than three hours of screen time - it's going to be a disappointment.

I just can't see how you can adequately explain any of the characters in that time, so most of them will be at best sketches, at worst caricatures.

Of all the panels I remember, the one of an aged Nixon, clutching the "atomic football" with the nuclear launch codes as he sits down in Air Force One stays with me.  He looks like he would rather be anywhere else than leading a nation that is on the brink of a nuclear war that no one can win.

And in that world, we WON the Vietnam War!

  •  can someone answer? (0+ / 0-)

who all, exactly, are "writers"?  all i know about are the "diarists".

and for the record, i think this is more a boycott than a strike, per se.  unless there's a KOS union that i didn't hear about....
