Harold Ickes is an Idiot; Clinton is done

The race for the Democratic nomination is over, and Hillary Clinton has lost. The fat lady has approached the mic. The Obama lead is insurmountable. There is absolutely no legitimate way for Hillary Clinton to win, besides the "Tonya Harding" option, or, in other words, "The Big Red Button That Will Destroy the Democratic Party." But her advisors and the candidate herself are suffering from the grandest of delusions.
They think that Hillary can actually win.
The problem is that they're idiots. Check out this article:
Somebody forgot to tell Hillary Clinton the Democratic presidential race is over and Barack Obama won.
Obama has captured more state contests, more votes and more of the pledged convention delegates who will help decide which Democrat faces Republican Sen. John McCain in November's presidential election.
But Clinton, a New York senator who has flirted with disaster before in the back-and-forth nominating battle with Obama, shrugs off growing predictions of doom and still sees at least a narrow path to victory.
"I hear it in the atmosphere," Clinton said of the increasingly loud chatter about whether she should drop out and let Democrats focus on the general election campaign.
"But the most common thing that people say to me ... is 'Don't give up, keep going. We're with you.' And I feel really good about that because that's what I intend to do," she told reporters on Tuesday.
Mike Huckabee, facing the increasingly likely prospect of a John McCain victory in the Republican nomination battle, was reported to have said, "I didn't major in math - I majored in miracles." Unfortunately for Hillary Clinton, she didn't major in either. Obama leads in the delegate count, and Hillary Clinton will have to win more than two-thirds of the remaining delegates. Think about that one carefully - that's NOT two-thirds of the remaining vote, it's over 67% of the remaining delegates. She'd have to win the popular vote by ridiculous margins in all of the upcoming contests, which she won't do.
There is absolutely no freaking way that Hillary Clinton will win Montana or South Dakota, for example. Her chances in Peurto Rico aren't as good as the pundits seem to think, either - with the popular Governor's endorsement, Puerto Rico's diversity, and the Richardson pickup, Obama will do much better than anyone expects. And although the Governor may have been indicted today, it doesn't really matter from a campaign standpoint - he's been in trouble before and he retained his popularity.
North Carolina and Oregon will go to Obama by comfortable margins, and he'll probably win narrowly in Indiana. In fact, I'd be willing to bet that Obama gains more delegates from North Carolina than Clinton will gain from Pennsylvania. Clinton gets West Virginia, Kentucky and Pennsylvania. In other words, she will definitely win only three of the next ten. Thats a .300 - as good as [insert your favorite crappy team here] during the regular season.
So, where does the title of the diary come in, you ask? Read the following excerpt from the same article:
"The Obama campaign is trying to persuade everybody that this is over. I hope they don't get their hands on the federal budget because they surely can't count," said Clinton adviser Harold Ickes.
"We think that both candidates are going to be within a hair of each other by the time the last state votes. At the end of this process, neither candidate will have the nomination" and superdelegates will decide," Ickes said.
The stupidity! It burns! Harold Ickes is claiming that the Obama campaign doesn't understand numbers, when he doesn't even realize that simple multiplication, addition and a napkin are all you need to figure out that Hillary Clinton is screwed? Notice the Clinton campaign's snarky press releases? Yeah, me too - it's too bad that Arlington is Reality Distortion Central, because if they were reasonable people at all, they would recognize that the this thing is already finished. But like the fanatical soldiers of any falling regime, they are determined to fight to the death, not realizing that it is already upon them.
Mr. Ickes, a third-grader could figure out the math of this Democratic race. Are you so lacking in basic numeracy that you don't recognize it? There are people who can help you with that, you know. I personally like Wolfram Mathematics, but that site is probably way too advanced for your meager intellect. Maybe you should start with the basic lessons on Math.com? It could help you, you know.
